Planning a Visit to the Museum

Each year we have many group visits to the Museum from schools, churches, scout troops, 4-H'ers, etc. May is an especially busy month, when most of the Mount Vernon 3rd Graders visit after they have finished studying their local history unit. We've had from 7 to 77 students per group.  School Bus-01

Our most popular exhibits with students include early telephones, steam engines, milk bottles, old movie theaters, Indian artifacts, Paul Lynde (as "Templeton, the Rat") and other topics that illustrate how things have changed over the past 200 years in Knox County and beyond. We also incorporate themes from the Ohio Social Studies Standards, such as timelines, problem-solving, building connections and related hands-on activities.

We are handicapped accessible, we have several restrooms and a spare wheelchair. Students seem to have a good time here, and it's not unusual to have several students bring their parents back within a week or so to give them the tour themselves. What more could we ask for!

We prefer to schedule these groups during our "not open to the public" hours, so mornings and early afternoons work well for us.

Give us a call (740-393-5247) to set up a day and time. We'll look forward to your visit.
