April 1 - The Birth and Development of EMT Medical Services in Knox County

                       by Dr. Charles Rice, of Gambier

       Dr. Rice has played an active part in the many improvements in Knox County's emergency medical services over the past 50 years. His slide program illustrates the growth and development of EMT activities in our area.

April 6 - “A Century of Mail Pouch Advertising” – A story by Mr. Norman Zimmerman

Now designated as historic landmarks and exhibited at the Smithsonian Institution, Mail Pouch Tobacco barns and signs have come a long way from their humble beginnings.

Soon after his birth in 1927 in Morgan County, Ohio, Norman Zimmerman began traveling across America from New York to Missouri with his mother and father, who was a painter of barns for the Mail Pouch Tobacco Co. During his career, his father painted over 12,000 barns, and in 1946 was joined by Belmont County's Harley Warrick, who also completed 20,000 barns during his long career.

May 2: Mount Vernon Middle School History Projects

MVMS 7th grade social studies teacher, Erin Gottke, will present seven of her students' outstanding documentary and website production projects. The students' topics include social, political and military subjects, as well as the reenactment of historic figures from long ago.

May 23 – A Special Presentation at a special date and time: 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Dan Emmett School Student History Projects

Each year the third grade students at Dan Emmett School create history reports and displays about selected events or interesting persons from Knox County's past.
This special early evening event will feature several of the third grade students, posted around our Museum near our exhibits relating to each of their research topics, and visitors can tour the Museum and learn more about a variety of subjects from each of the students.
This is a first for us, and should prove to be a most enjoyable evening. Note the special date and time.

June 6: A Schnormeier Garden Tour Preview by Ted Schnormeier

The evening before the opening of this year's much anticipated "Schnormeier Garden Tour," Ted Schnormeier will relate stories about his exquisite gardens and the fame that has grown around his annual tour that brings thousands of visitors from far and near to Knox County each year.
