April 6 - “A Century of Mail Pouch Advertising” – A story by Mr. Norman Zimmerman

Now designated as historic landmarks and exhibited at the Smithsonian Institution, Mail Pouch Tobacco barns and signs have come a long way from their humble beginnings.

Soon after his birth in 1927 in Morgan County, Ohio, Norman Zimmerman began traveling across America from New York to Missouri with his mother and father, who was a painter of barns for the Mail Pouch Tobacco Co. During his career, his father painted over 12,000 barns, and in 1946 was joined by Belmont County's Harley Warrick, who also completed 20,000 barns during his long career.
